August 13 (SeeNews) - Passenger traffic at Ljubljana airport has increased 11.8% year-on-year to 1,030,106 in the first seven months of 2018, Germany’s Fraport Group, which operates the airport in Slovenia's capital, said on Monday.
Aircraft takeoffs and landings at Ljubljana airport rose 4.8% on the year to 20,519 in January-July, while cargo traffic expanded 7.6% to 7,103 tonnes, Fraport said in a data release.
In July alone, passenger traffic at Ljubljana airport rose 0.4% to 198,911, aircraft movements added 9.1% to 3,571, while cargo transport increased 11.1% to 1,052 tonnes.
In 2017, passenger traffic at Ljubljana airport rose 19.8% year-on-year to 1,683,045.
In September 2014, Fraport signed a deal to acquire a stake of 75.5% in the company that operated Ljubljana airport and later increased its shareholding interest to 100%.
Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, the German company also operates the airports in the Bulgarian Black Sea cities of Varna and Burgas.
