LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), January 14 (SeeNews) – Passenger traffic at Ljubljana airport increased 7.7% year-on-year to 1,812,411 in 2018, Germany’s Fraport Group, which operates the airport in Slovenia's capital, said on Monday.
Aircraft takeoffs and landings at Ljubljana airport rose 5.9% to 36,512 in January-December, while cargo traffic edged up 0.4% to 12,378 tonnes, Fraport said in a data release.
In December alone, Ljubljana airport serviced 109,059 passengers, down 0.9% on the year. Aircraft movements increased 39.9% to 3,437, while cargo traffic decreased by 5.6% to 1,056 tonnes.
In 2017, passenger traffic at Ljubljana airport rose 19.8% year-on-year to 1,683,045.
In September 2014, Fraport signed a deal to acquire a stake of 75.5% in the company that operated Ljubljana airport and later increased its shareholding interest to 100%. Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, the German company also operates the airports in the Bulgarian Black Sea cities of Varna and Burgas.
