February 25 (SeeNews) - Lidl Serbia, a unit of German discount store operator Lidl Stiftung & Co, named Dragan Cigoja its new general director, it said.
Cigoja will assume his role on March 1, the company said in a statement on Thursday.
Cigoja, previously the chief of the company's central services deparment, was Lidl's first employee in Serbia, the company said.
His predecessor, Tomislav Sapina, will move to one of the Lidl parent company Schwarz Group's other subsidiaries in Germany, the statement read.
Lidl, part of Germany's Schwarz-Gruppe, is a global discount supermarket chain, based in Neckarsulm, Germany. The company operates over 10,000 stores in Europe.
In Serbia, Lidl has 57 stores, a logistics centre in Nova Pazova and another under construction - in Lapovo - which is due to be opened in the second half of the year.
