October 23 (SeeNews) - German discount retail chain Lidl opened on Wednesday its new 70 million euro ($78 million) logistics centre in Slovenia, Slovenian media reported.
The new logistics centre spreading on more than 13 hectares in the Arja Vas village in the municipality of Zalec, in central Slovenia, will help shorten the transportation time, thus lowering the company's greenhouse gas emissions, state news agency STA reported.
Lidl Slovenia started building the facility in June 2018.
The new centre aims to raise Lidl's storage capacities in Slovenia as well as to upgrade its business operations.
Lidl entered Slovenia in Mach 2007 when it opened simultaneously 15 stores in the country's largest towns.
