June 15 (SeeNews) - Hourly labour costs in Romania rose by an annual 12.7% in the first quarter, more than in any other EU member state, Eurostat said on Friday.
Labour costs in Romania grew the most in the construction sector - by 19.1% year-on-year, followed by services with 10.3% and industry - with 9.9%, the bloc's statistical office said in a statement.
All EU members from Southeast Europe (SEE) recorded increases in labour costs above the EU average, which stood at 2.7%.
Out of SEE member states, Greece posted the lowest annual growth in labour costs - of 4.4%.
