January 16 (SeeNews) - The benchmark index of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange (LJSE) fell on Thursday, as pharmaceuticals producer Krka [LJE:KRKG] recorded the sharpest losses among Slovenia's blue-chip companies, bourse data showed.
Krka's shares closed 4.42% lower at 73.6 euro. The company generated more than half of LJSE's trading turnover on Thursday – 1.29 million euro.
The bourse's total turnover rose to 2.27 million euro ($2.5 million) from 1.19 million euro on Wednesday.
Fuel retailer Petrol [LJE:PETG] posted the biggest gains among the blue chips on Thursday, erasing losses it suffered in the previous session.
Petrol’s shares closed 1.31% higher at 387.0 euro. On Wednesday, the retailer's shares closed 1.04% lower at 382.0 euro.
The blue-chip SBITOP index, which tracks the most liquid and capitalised stocks on the LJSE, ended Thursday's session 1.36% lower at 960.54 points.
