September 24 (SeeNews) - Kosovo's trade deficit increased by 54% year-on-year to 352.6 million euro ($413.9 million) in August, the country's statistical office said.
Exports rose by 89.4% year-on-year to 64.9 million euro, while imports increased by 58.6% to 417.5 million euro in August, the statistical office said in a statement on Thursday.
Kosovo's main export destinations in August were Albania, the U.S. and North Macedonia. Base metals, various manufactured articles, and plastic and rubber products were Kosovo's main export items.
Mineral products, food, beverages and tobacco, as well as machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment made up the bulk of Kosovo's imports in August. Most of the imports originated in Germany, Turkey and China.
