January 25 (SeeNews) - Kosovo's trade deficit increased by 38.3% year-on-year to 3.9 billion euro ($4.4 billion) in 2021, the country's statistical office said on Tuesday.
Exports (FOB) rose by 57.9% year-on-year to 749.7 million euro, while imports (CIF) increased by an annual 41.1% to 4.65 billion euro in 2021, the statistical office said in a statement.
In December alone, Kosovo's trade deficit increased by 27.8% year-on-year to 394.9 million euro.
Kosovo's main export destinations in December were Albania, North Macedonia and the U.S. Various manufactured articles, base metals, plastic products and food, beverages and tobacco were Kosovo's main export items.
Mineral products, machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment, food, beverages and tobacco and base metals made up the bulk of Kosovo's imports in December. Most of the imports originated in Turkey, Germany and China.
