PRISTINA (Kosovo), May 7 (SeeNews) – Kosovo's parliament said on Wednesday it voted to dissolve ahead of snap elections planned for June 8.
The decision followed a request signed by 57 members of parliament, according to a statement posted on the website of Kosovo’s parliament.
It was taken in a 90 to 4 vote.
Kosovo’s prime minister Hashim Thaci asked MPs to vote in favor of the dissolution of parliament, stressing that the moment for preparation of elections is appropriate as the institutions are credible.
According to Kosovo’s legislation, president Atifete Jahjaga must now call elections. Earlier this week leaders of Kosovo's main political parties agreed the elections to be held on June 8 instead of November.
