February 14 (SeeNews) - Kosovo's gross electricity production increased to 6,363 GWh in 2019, from 5,912 GWh in the prior year, the national statistical office said.
Thermal power plants produced 6,036.6 GWh of electricity, while hydro power plants generated 326.5 GWh, Kosovo's Agency of Statistics said in a statement late on Thursday.
Kosovo imported 1,597.8 GWh of electricity last year, up from 659.2 GWh in 2018, whereas power exports rose to 1,457.1 GWh from 671.5 GWh.
Coal output rose to 8.06 million tonnes from 7.17 million tonnes in 2018.
In the fourth quarter alone, Kosovo's gross power production rose to 1,788.6 GWh, from 1,416.2 GWh in the prior-year period.
Kosovo's power consumption in the October-December period increased 3.6% year-on-year to 1,200.6 GWh, with households having a share of 55.8% in total consumption.
