May 19 (SeeNews) - Kosovo's gross power production rose to 1,729.3 GWh in the first quarter of 2017 from 1,660.6 GWh in the like period a year ago, the national statistics agency said on Friday.
Thermal power plants produced 1,678.4 GWh of electricity, while hydro power plants generated 50.9 GWh, the agency said in a statement.
The tiny country imported 215.8 GWh in the January-March period, down from 293.9 GWh in the like period of 2016, whereas its exports fell to 141.5 GWh from 154.3 GWh.
Kosovo's power consumption in the review period added 7.7% to 1,096.9 GWh, as the biggest share of final consumers, or 59.3%, were households.
Coal output edged up 0.5% in the first quarter of 2017, to 2.1 million tonnes.
