December 6 (SeeNews) - Kosovo will submit an application to become a member of the European Union by the end of 2022, the country's president, Vjosa Osmani, said on Tuesday.
Kosovo has shown its commitment to the EU and EU values in its actions, especially when it comes to the full alignment with the EU on all foreign policy and security decisions and rejecting malign influences of actors such as Russia and China, Osmani told press ahead of the EU-Western Balkans summit in Tirana.
"At the same time, we need the EU to move from words to deeds, especially when it comes to visa liberalisation for the citizens of Kosovo," Osmani added.
The Council of the European Union said in late November that its presidency will hold talks with the European Parliament (EP) on allowing the citizens of Kosovo to travel visa-free within the bloc.
Kosovo unilaterally declared independence from Serbia in 2008.
