May 23 (SeeNews) - State-owned Kosovo Telecom operating under the Vala brand has expanded its 4G infrastructure by 25%, it said on Monday.
“Telekom is in the phase of substituting its existing platforms, which, as a result of the lack of technological investments for over eight years, no longer have sufficient capacity to cope with the rise in demand for advanced internet services,” the telco said in a notice to customers explaining malfunctions in existing 2G and 3G platforms.
In December, the company said it agreed with the Croatian telecommunications equipment manufacturer Ericsson Nicola Tesla and the North Macedonian unit of Greek telecommunication systems vendor Intracom to modernize its network. The agreement envisages the expansion of the 4G network and the instalment of ten 5G stations.
