PRISTINA (Kosovo), May 24 (SeeNews) – Kosovo is seeking a consultant to undertake a road financing and institutional study related to the construction of a 31 km-long highway section, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which is co-financing the project, said on Thursday.
The consultant will be expected to provide Kosovo's ’s infrastructure ministry with an update of available information on road financing and recommend how best to provide an adequate and stable flow of funds to the sector, the EBRD said in a procurement notice.
The consultant will also undertake a review of the road sector in Kosovo to identify the key areas where reform is required to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the administration and management of state roads.
The assignment, with an estimated cost of 100,000 euro ($117,237), is expected to start in second half of 2018 and has an estimated overall duration of 24 months.
The EBRD has extended a sovereign loan of up to 71 million euro to Kosovo to co-finance the construction of the highway section with a length of some 31 km. that will connect the Kijeve village, near the capital Pristina, with Zahaq village near the city of Peja. The highway section is part of Route 6b of the Western Balkans Comprehensive Network and will support Kosovo’s economic development and regional integration.
The EBRD funding will be complemented by a 80 million euro loan provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and 3.2 million euro in grant funding from the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF) for project preparation.
