PRISTINA (Kosovo), August 13 (SeeNews) – Kosovo's insurance sector recorded a net loss of 2.7 million euro ($3.0 million) in the first half of 2019, compared to a net profit of 800,000 euro in the same period a year earlier, central bank figures showed.
Kosovo insurers' gross written premiums increased to 47.3 million euro in the first six months, from 44.2 million euro a year earlier, according to data published by Kosovo's central bank last week.
Gross written premiums from non-life insurance rose to 45.5 million euro from 42.7 million euro, while life-insurance premiums increased to 1.8 million euro from 1.5 million euro.
Total gross claims paid rose to 24.9 million euro from 22.3 million euro.
The assets held by Kosovo insurance companies totalled 190.0 million euro at the end of June, up from 174.7 million euro a year earlier.
The figures comprise data for 13 insurance companies operating in Kosovo.
