November 6 (SeeNews) - Kosovo's insurance companies turned to a net profit of 3.2 million euro ($3.7 million) in September 2017, from a net loss of 12.1 million euro in the same month a year earlier, central bank figures showed.
Kosovo insurers' gross written premiums increased to 65.9 million euro in September from 64.5 million euro in the respective month of 2016, according to data published by the central bank on Friday.
Gross written premiums from the non-life insurance totaled 64 million euro, up from 62.6 million euro in September 2016, while life-insurance premiums remained unchanged year-on-year at 1.9 million euro in September 2017.
Total gross claims paid rose to 32.4 million euro from 26.4 million euro.
The assets held by Kosovo insurance companies increased to 173.1 million euro, from 166 million euro in September 2016.
Kosovo insurers ended 2016 with a combined net loss of 23.9 million euro, more than three times higher than a loss of 7.7 million euro in 2015.
The statistics comprises data for 15 insurance companies operating in Kosovo.
