January 5 (SeeNews) - Kosovo's government has decided to prohibit cryptocurrency mining on the country's entire territory in a bid to save electricity, local media reported.
The decision was taken based on a recommendation by the Technical Committee for Emergency Measures due to concerns that cryptocurrency mining is one of the main reasons for the high electricity consumption in the country, news provider RTK Live reported on Tuesday.
The Technical Committee for Emergency Measures was formed at the end of last year to address issues related to the ongoing energy crisis in the country.
Kosovo recently declared a state of emergency and introduced power cuts across the country due to electricity production outages, according to local media.
