September 28 (SeeNews) - The net profit of Kosovo's banking sector increased to 80.4 million euro ($93.9 million) in the eight months through August, from 51.4 million euro in the same period of last year, the country's central bank said on Tuesday.
The outstanding loan portfolio of Kosovo's banks expanded by 12% year-on-year to 3.5 billion euro at the end of August, the central bank said in a monthly report.
Deposits grew by 15.8% on the year, reaching 4.66 billion euro at the end of August.
The Kosovo banking system had total assets of 5.7 billion euro at the end of August, up from 4.96 billion euro a year earlier.
Return on assets rose to 2.5% from 1.8% in August 2020, while return on equity increased to 21.0% from 15.9%.
The figures comprise the financial results of 11 banks. Raiffeisen Bank Kosovo and ProCredit Bank are the largest among them in terms of assets.
