June 5 (SeeNews) - A proposal to remove the owner of Croatia's ailing concern Agrokor, Ivica Todoric, from the post of supervisory board chairman of retailer Konzum, a unit of Agrokor, has failed to win enough support, which would prolong the restructuring process, Agrokor receiver Ante Ramljak said on Monday.
After Todoric refused to resign, his removal from the position was put to a vote at a general shareholders meeting of Konzum but the attempt failed because one shareholder voted in his favour, Ramljak told a news conference aired by public broadcaster HRT.
Namely, the Agram Group, which holds a 25% stake in Konzum, voted to keep Todoric as chairman of the retailer's supervisory board.
Ramljak explained that the outcome will be detrimental to the restructuring process in Agrokor and would prolong it.
"We expected that all of the shareholders would vote for, but Agram voted against the impeachment of Todoric", Ramljak said.
Ramljak hinted that Todoric was still pulling the strings in Konzum, telling the media that Agram's owner had said he acted upon instructions he had been given.
When asked who was giving the instructions, Ramljak said: "I think everything is clear to you".
Konzum supervisory board members Ivan Crnjac and Hrvoje Kraljevic resigned earlier.
The new supervisory board will convene in some 15 days.
