November 17 (SeeNews) - Kaufland Bulgaria, part of German retail chain Kaufland, said that it invested more than 6.2 million levs ($3.3 million/3.2 million levs) in the upgrade of two hypermarkets in Bulgaria's capital of Sofia.
In 2023, the grocery retailer plans to overhaul another 13 hypermarket stores across the country, it said in a press release earlier this week.
Kaufland Bulgaria has invested more than 35 million levs in the modernisation of its store network since the start of the year, completing the upgrade of eleven sites.
It has also partnered with other businesses, such as SoPharmacy, Deichmann and SDI Insurance to launch over 70 rented commercial sites at the premises of hypermarkets across Bulgaria.
Kaufland Bulgaria, which generates annual turnover of some 1.7 billion levs, has 63 hypermarkets in 35 cities in the country, 13 of which are in Sofia.
Last month, the company kicked off its 50 million levs project to refurbish Tsentralni Hali, Sofia's central market hall, and open a new concept store there.
