November 27 (SeeNews) - The Croatian arm of Danish bedding and furniture retailer JYSK said its earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) rose 4.1% to 86.7 million kuna ($13.7 million/11.5 million euro) in fiscal year 2020.
The company's turnover, however, edged down 0.5% to 532.9 million kuna in the past year, JYSK Hrvatska said in a statement on Thursday.
It added that its shops were closed for 40 days in the spring, as a result of the imposed anti-coronavirus restrictions, which was a big financial and logistical challenge for the company since in this period it saw huge growth in online sales.
However, with the reopening of the economy and during the summer months, buyers returned to JYSK shops, the statement read.
In 2020, the sales growth was sharpest in the segments of home furnishing, mattresses and decoration.
JYSK entered Croatia in 2009. It opened three new outlets in the past year and now operates 47 shops in the Adriatic country, employing 484 people.
