November 10 (SeeNews) - JYSK Bulgaria, a subsidiary of Danish bedding and furniture retailer JYSK, said on Thursday that it plans to continue expanding with new stores on the local market in 2023, as well as kick off delivery operations in Turkey.
JYSK Bulgaria will open at least six new stores in Bulgaria next year, and its upgraded distribution centre in Bozhurishte, near the capital Sofia, will also start serving the Turkish market, the company said in a statement.
Another two new stores will be launched in Bulgaria by the end of 2022. They will be located in the second-largest city of Plovdiv and in Smolyan, a municipal town near the Pamporovo ski resort and the border with Greece.
The furniture and homewares retailer will renovate its store in Dobrich by the end of the year and is also planning the refurbishment of seven other Bulgarian retail sites, as part of a plan to upgrade all stores opened locally before 2018.
The Danish company, which started operations in Bulgaria in 2005, now has 47 local retail outlets in addition to its e-commerce store, and employs over 700 staff.
"Our fiscal year has just ended and we will share detailed information about our financial results on November 24. So far, I can say that we have very good results in Bulgaria," Simona Carp, JYSK HR manager for Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey, said.
Last week, JYSK Bulgaria inaugurated a new 14,170 sq m logistics zone at its distribution centre, following an investment of 12 million euro ($12.1 million).
The expanded zone has increased the centre's capacity by 30% and enables it to serve all 302 stores in the Southeast Europe region, JYSK Bulgaria also said.
