May 7 (SeeNews) - Greek toy retailer Jumbo has reported on Tuesday a 30% rise in the sales of its Romanian unit in the first 10 months of its financial year 2018/2019 started July 2018.
Romanian stores posted the highest increase in sales in the entire group, Jumbo said in a press release.
"Undoubtedly, the race is driven by the dynamic market of Romania, where in March the 13th Jumbo hyper store was introduced and Romania as a country has recorded sales growth of more than 30% for the 10-month period," the company said.
The market of Bulgaria followed with sales growth of approximately 9%.
From July 2018 until April 2019, the group recorded a rise in sales of around 7%, within expectations.
Jumbo also said it plans will open a new store in Brasov, in central Romania, by October.
Since July 2018, Jumbo has opened three new stores in Romania: one in capital Bucharest, at the end of September, with an area of 13,600 sq m, one in Bacau, of some 12,900 sq m, in November and one in Braila, of 12,000 sq m, in March.
Jumbo currently operates 78 stores - 51 in Greece, 5 in Cyprus, 9 in Bulgaria and 13 in Romania, plus the online store e-jumbo. The company is also present through partnerships in five countries of Southeast Europe with stores operating under the Jumbo brand - in North Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo, Serbia and Bosnia.
