September 5 (SeeNews) - Japanese retailer Miniso said on Wednesday it has opened its first store in Romania's capital Bucharest and plans to operate 40 units across the country by 2020.
The retailer opened its first store in Bucharest Veranda mall and plans to open a second one in Auchan Titan shopping centre on September 8, it said in a press release.
"We have long been planning to bring Miniso to Romania. We are convinced that we are going to be successful, like we have been in all countries where we have rapidly expanded since 2013," Miniso Romania CEO, Jake Liu, said.
Miniso plans to have 40 stores across Romania by 2020.
In May the company said it plans to launch 25 stores in Romania's southern neighbour Bulgaria, as the first one will open by the end of this year.
Established in Japan in 2013, Miniso has opened over 2,600 stores worldwide in the last four years and posted annual sales of $1.8 billion (1.55 billion euro) in 2017.
The retailer mostly sells health and beauty products, gifts, digital accessories, accessories for home, daily life products and special packaging.
