July 14 (SeeNews) - A Japanese-French consortium comprising Itochu and Suez is the only bidder in a tender for the construction of a landfill site in a suburb of Serbia's capital Belgrade, Vinca, the city's government said.
Works on the landfill, which is estimated to cost some 300 million euro ($342.3 million), could start as soon as the second half of 2018, if the bid is approved by the city's tenders commission, the Belgrade city government said in a statement on Thursday.

The project itself includes the remediation and closure of the existing landfill, the usage of landfill gas for the production of electricity, construction of waste water treatment facilities, as well as facilities for the processing of waste and production of heat and power, and construction of landfill cells according to European Union standards.
