January 25 (SeeNews) - Italian bioplastics and biochemicals producer Novamont has expressed interest in the development of a system for the processing of organic waste in Serbia, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce has said.
The company is ready to present the best model for the processing of organic waste in the municipality of Gornji Milanovac, in central Serbia, the Chamber of Commerce said in a statement on Wednesday.
Representatives of Novamont and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce visited the factories of paints and plastic products raw materials producer S Group in Gornji Milanovac and of plastic bags manufacturer Polipak in Batocina, the statement reads.
The Chamber of Commerce will launch a pilot project to connect local governments and companies to foreign firms, in order to stimulate the development of recycling activities in Serbia, the secretary of the Association for Chemical, Rubber and Non-Metal Industry at the Chamber of Commerce, Dragan Stevanovic, said.
Novamont, headquartered in Novara, in northern Italy, is active in the production of biodegradable and compostable bioplastics, biolubricants, greases and bio-based ingredients for the cosmetics sector.
