November 16 (SeeNews) - Italian fresh ready meals producer La Linea Verde said it has been awarded a concession contract to operate 99 hectares of state-owned agricultural land in Serbia.
The contract will have a duration of 30 years starting November 2018, La Linea Verde, which operates a factory in Ruma, in northern Serbia, said in a statement on Thursday.
"In addition to the current 70 employees, the owners of La Linea Verde plan to hire 80 more people, including seasonal workers. This is an action that will have a positive impact on the inhabitants of the villages around Ruma who will certainly benefit from this opportunity," Ruma mayor, Sladjan Mancic, said.
Serbia represents the basis for the expansion project of La Linea Verde in Eastern Europe, the president of the company, Giuseppe Battagliola, noted.
La Linea Verde invested 1.5 million euro ($1.7 million) in 2017 in the construction of the factory in Ruma where it packages ready-to-eat salads.
