May 17 (SeeNews) - The Montenegrin Power Exchange (MEPX) said that Enel Global Trading SpA, part of Italy's Enel Group, has become its eighth foreign member.
Enel Global Trading SpA acts as Enel Group's sole interface in the wholesale energy market for electricity, gas and all other commodities, the MEPX said in a statement on Tuesday. Its joining the MEPX brings the number of the members of the exchange to 15.
MEPX is a limited liability company founded by power utility Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG), transmission system operator Crnogorski Elektroprenosni Sistem (CGES) and the domestic power market operator COTEE in June 2017 under a Montenegrin government decision with the purpose of establishing and operating an organised electricity market in the country.
MEPX successfully launched its day-ahead market on April 26, after delaying the launch last December due to energy price volatility, according to media reports.
