BELGRADE (Serbia), September 16 (SeeNews) – Israel has moved Serbia to its green list of countries for which there is no mandatory 14-day self coronavirus-related isolation, the Serbian president's office said on Wednesday.
Serbia is on the green countries list of Israel as of September 16, the new Israeli ambassador to Serbia, Yahel Vilan, said during the official presentation of his Letters of Credence to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, according to a statement by the Serbian president's office.
On September 4, Vucic and Kosovo prime minister Avdullah Hoti signed a U.S.-brokered agreement on the normalisation of economic relations between Belgrade and Pristina, which also envisages the relocation of Serbia's embassy to Israel to Jerusalem and the mutual recognition by Kosovo and Israel.
The potential relocation of the Serbian embassy to Israel drew criticism by the EU Commission which stated that Serbia needs to align its policy towards third countries with the one of the EU. The EU position is that the status of Jerusalem as the future capital of both Israel and the Palestinians must be resolved through negotiations and the EU expects Serbia and Kosovo to act in line with their aspirations to join the bloc, European Commission spokesman Peter Stano said earlier.
Last week, the head of Serbia's Chamber of Commerce, Marko Cadez, said Serbia’s government and the chamber plan to open a representation office in the Margalit Startup City complex in Jerusalem by the end of September.
