December 15 (SeeNews) - Irish fashion retailer Primark said on Thursday it has opened its first store in Romania following a 10 million euro ($10.7 million) investment.
The 3,700 sq m flagship store is located in the ParkLake Shopping Centre in Bucharest, Primark said in a press release.
The store marks the international retailer’s entry on its 15th market and solidifies its expansion plans in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), where it is already present in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia.
"We have ambitious growth plans in CEE and today’s opening is our first step in Romania – with more to follow," Primark CEE head of sales Maciej Podwojski said.
In November, the fashion retailer said it plans to open a second Bucharest store in AFI Cotroceni Shopping Centre next year.
Primark first announced its entry into the Romanian market in January.
Founded in Ireland in 1969 under the Penneys brand, Primark today has over 400 stores across 15 countries in Europe and North America and employs more than 70,000.
