August 3 (SeeNews) - Iraq has suspended flights to and from Turkey because of the increasing number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Turkey, Turkish media reported, quoting a statement by Iraq's Aviation Authority.
The flight suspension comes after Iraq resumed international travel at some of its airports, including Baghdad airport, last week after a break of several months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Daily Sabah reported on Sunday.
In July, Turkey suspended flights to Iran and Afghanistan as a preventive measure against the coronavirus.
Turkey restarted domestic flights on June 1, whereas international flights resumed on June 11 after more than a two-month halt. In March, Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan ordered the suspension of all flights in order to contain the coronavirus outbreak.
