February 21 (SeeNews) - Bosnia's Sokolac municipality said that Investment Group Balkan established by companies from Russia, China and Lithuania has expressed interest in building a solar park on an area of 100 hectares in the municipality.
"The investment is not little. It is about several hundred millions of euro," the head of Sokolac municipality, Milovan Bjelica, said in a statement on Thursday, following a meeting with representatives of Investment Group Balkan and the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"I underline that the Sokolac municipality does not intend to sell land but will offer a leasehold. We need to carry out consultations with the government of the Serb Republic entity and the respective ministry since the Sokolac municipality is not authorised to issue permits for construction of energy facilities," Bjelica said.
He added that he has presented to the potential investors a municipal energy study dating back to 2005, which proposes the construction of two photovoltaic plants on the territory of Sokolac - one of 60 MW and another one of 80 MW.
Sokolac is located in the Serb Republic - one of the two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other is the Federation.
