July 19 (SeeNews) - Greek construction company Intrakat said that it has won a 19.6 million euro ($23.1 million) contract for the modernization of the water supply and sewerage network in Romania's Ilfov county.
The contract signed with Apa-Canal Ilfov, the public water utility company of llfov county, concerns the expansion of the water supply, sewerage networks and sewage pumping stations in the areas of Mogosoaia, Balotesti and Tunari, Intrakat said in a press release last week.
"This is the first of a series of projects that we are waiting to sign in Romania, which is a market on which we have been operating for many years and which is now opening. This creates good prospects for our company here," Intrakat president Dimitris Koutras said.
Overall, some 86.5 km of water distribution network, 30 sewage pumping stations (both new construction and reconstruction) and 94 km of sewerage pipelines will be built.
The project is expected to be completed within 35 months from the signing of the contract.
Intrakat was founded in 1987 and is part of the Intracom Holdings group of companies.
