February 7 (SeeNews) - India-based Kalyani Strategic Systems (KSSL), the defence arm of Kalyani Group, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Bulgarian arms maker Arsenal for manufacturing of small arms and ammunition, Indian media reported.
KSSL and Arsenal will develop a manufacturing capability in India for the AR 7.62 x 39mm assault rifle and MG 7.62 x 51mm machine gun series, online aerospace and defence news outlet Raksha-Anirveda reported on Thursday.
The strategic alliance will also actively participate in projects for the Indian armed forces.
"Arsenal is proud to be the first defence OEM in Bulgaria to become an active participant in the Make in India programme with Kalyani Group as its partner for assault rifle, machine gun and ammunition for Ministry of Defence, India," the Bulgarian company's CEO Hristo Ibouchev was quoted saying in the report.
Kazanlak-based Arsenal's main activities include design, manufacturing and trade in small arms and artillery armaments, ammunition as well as primers and powders.
