SOFIA (Bulgaria), February 23 (SeeNews) – The number of Bulgarian and Romanian immigrants in the UK rose to 74,000, up by 19,000, in the year ending September 2016, the UK Office for National Statistics said on Thursday.
Immigration from Bulgaria and Romania accounted for 28% of EU immigration to the UK, the statistical office said in a report.
Around 60% of the Bulgarian and Romanian citizens arriving in the UK for work-related reasons declared they are arriving with a definite job.
With a total of 189 National Insurance number registrations in 2016, Romanian citizens ranked first among all EU member states. Bulgarian citizens ranked fifth, with a total of 42 registrations in 2016.
