October 1 (SeeNews) - Dutch electronic goods manufacturer Cooperatief IMI Europe has opened a factory in Niska Banja, in southern Serbia, the Nis city government said.
The company invested 33 million euro ($38.2 million) in the factory which currently has 74 employees and their number will increase to 1,250 by 2027, the Nis city government said in a statement on Friday.
IMI completed the construction of the factory, which spreads on an area of about 14,000 square metres, in less than a year.
Cooperatief IMI Europe is part of Philippines-based Integrated Micro-Electronics Inc(IMI), which is a leading world supplier of electronics manufacturing services for a number of industries.
IMI's European production unit founded in Bulgaria in 1997 has shown the growth potential of the region, mostly in the automotive sector. Therefore, the investor has decided to open a new production facility in South East Europe, choosing Nis as a destination, the Serbian economy ministry noted in a separate statement.
