June 9 (SeeNews) - An International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission of experts started a visit to Bulgaria on Friday, which will continue until June 15, the finance ministry in Sofia said.
The IMF mission team, led by Jean-François Dauphin, will meet officials from the finance ministry, the Bulgarian National Bank and other state institutions as well as representatives of the private sector and non-governmental organisations, the finance ministry said in a press release, without providing further information.
The visit comes several days after the Bulgarian parliament on Tuesday voted into office a new government formed in a power sharing deal between WCC-DB and GERB-UDF, the two biggest political formations in the National Aassembly after the April 2 snap vote.
The global financial institution conducted a staff visit to Bulgaria during November 30 – December 6 last year to assess macroeconomic developments and update its projections for the country.
Last month, the IMF slashed its forecast for Bulgaria's real economic growth in 2023 to 1.4% from 3.0% predicted in October.
