October 29 (SeeNews) - The Romanian arm of Sweden's IKEA, the world's largest furniture retailer, said on Thursday its sales grew by around 12.4% to 424.5 million lei ($106 million/96 million euro) in the fiscal year ending August 31, value added tax excluded.
The IKEA store, located in the northern part of Romania's capital Bucharest, had nearly 3.25 million visitors in the 12 months to August 31, who bought about 14.2 million products, the retailer said in a statement.
Furniture accounted for about 58% of the total volume of sold products, with decorations and accessories making up the remainder, IKEA said.
The store was opened in March 2007 under a franchise and became part of the IKEA Group in March 2010. It had 529 employees in the 12 months through August.
IKEA operates more than 376 stores in 47 countries, 40 of which are operated under franchise agreements.
