June 20 (SeeNews) - Romanian investment fund Fribourg Capital said on Tuesday that U.S.-based technology giant IBM will open a business services centre, its fourth in Romania, in an office park owned by the fund in the central-western city of Cluj.
The new IBM centre will be inaugurated in July and will be located in Liberty Technology Park, the fund said in a press release.
"The long-term plan is for Liberty Technology Park Cluj to become a genuine creative and production centre," Fribourg Capital managing partner Ion Sturza said.
Other tenants in the park include Siemens, KPMG, Arvato Bertelsmann, Altran, Halcyon Mobile and Control Data Systems.
The US company is present in Romania since 2010 and operates three global business centres - in the capital Bucharest, in the central city of Brasov and in Timisoara, in western Romania, employing a total of 2,653.
IBM Romania's net profit jumped 11% on the year to 75.4 million lei (18.4 mi/16.4 million euro) in 2016, while turnover was up 9.5% on the year to 814.5 million lei, data posted on the finance ministry's website showed.
Liberty Technology Park hosts over 1,700 employees, aiming to increase their number to 2,000 by the end of 2017.
The park was inaugurated in 2013 following an investment of 15 million euro ($16.7 million) and comprises five buildings with a total leasable area of 17,000 square metres.
