BELGRADE (Serbia), June 15 (SeeNews) – US technology companies IBM, Oracle and Microsoft are in talks with the Serbian government for using the Kragujevac data centre, prime minister Ana Brnabic has said.
"We are currently in talks with them and other companies for the storage of their data in Kragujevac," Brnabic said in a video file posted on the YouTube channel of Serbia's ruling SNS party on Saturday.
The government, which opened the Kragujevac data centre in March, will expand it by establishing a hub for development of artificial intelligence projects by October, Brnabic said.
"We decided to keep our data in our country. Thanks to the Kragujevac data centre, the data of all Serbian citizens will be the most secure possible. We did not save money on that," Brnabic said on Saturday.
Serbia is investing 30 million euro ($33.8 million) in the construction of the data centre in Kragujevac which will spread on an area of four hectares and will have a few hundred employees after its development is completed, Brnabic said in November 2019.
