January 6 (SeeNews) - Hungarian oil and gas company MOL has won a 25.5 million euro ($28.9 million) contract for the delivery of fuel to Slovenia's ministry of public administration, data from the EU Commission's Tenders Electronic Daily (TED) showed on Thursday.
MOL placed the lowest bid in a tender for the service and ranked better than a joint offer of Slovenian energy group Petrol [LJE:PETG] and OMV Slovenia, TED data showed.
According to Slovenian media reports, the public administration ministry signed the deal with MOL on January 3. The contract will take effect on January 9.
Petrol, in which the Slovenian government directly controls a 10.8% stake, and OMV Slovenia won the previous tender for the delivery of fuel to the public administration ministry, held in 2019, with an offer of 27.7 million euro.
In June, Croatian oil and gas group INA and its top shareholder, MOL, acquired a 92.25% stake in OMV Slovenia from Austrian oil, gas and chemicals group OMV. The MOL and OMV filling stations in Slovenia will be supplied with fuel by INA, Croatian media reported in June.
After the acquisition of OMV Slovenia, MOL has increased its market share in the country to about 40%.
