May 25 (SeeNews) - Hungary has reopened its borders for all citizens of neighbouring Serbia after Belgrade abolished its coronavirus-related travel restrictions for everyone wishing to enter the country, Hungarian foreign minister Peter Szijjarto said on Monday.
The citizens of Serbia and Hungary will be able to freely enter the respective foreign country at all nine crossings on the border which will contribute to the economic recovery following the coronavirus lockdown, Szijjarto told a news conference after a meeting with Serbia's European integration minister Jadranka Joksimovic in Belgrade, according to a Serbian government press release.
The Serbian government abolished on Friday its requirement for a negative PCR test or a special permit for entering the country. The government also abolished the requirement for self-isolation for 14 days after entry.
In April, Serbia and Hungary reopened three crossings at their common border to provide access for commuter workers.
Serbia closed its borders on March 15, shortly after it declared a state of emergency to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus disease.
