July 14 (SeeNews) - The Hungarian government said that as of Wednesday it will impose border restrictions to prevent the import of the coronavirus from abroad, banning citizens of several countries, including Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Moldova and Montenegro, from entering the country.
Citizens of countries that fall in the "red" category under Hungary's classification based on the gravity of the epidemic will not be allowed to enter country, the government said in a statement on Sunday, quoting prime minister Viktor Orban’s chief of staff, Gergely Gulyas, as saying.
Citizens of "yellow" countries, including Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia, will be subject to health screening and will be required to quarantine for two weeks upon arrival. Passengers that will provide two negative coronavirus test results from tests carried in the past five days with 48 hours between the two tests will be exempt from the quarantine.
Citizens of "green" countries will be allowed to enter the country without quarantine or providing negative test results. Croatia falls into the "green" category as the number of coronavirus cases in the country remains low despite the recent increase, Gulyas said.
Transit passenger and cargo traffic, as well as business travel are exempt from the border restrictions but health examinations may be conducted.
