November 19 (SeeNews) - Croatia's Hrvatski Telekom [ZSE:HT] has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Microsoft for the outsourcing of 4,000 programmers and other IT experts from India via the MS Acceleration Center, Croatian media reported.
Microsoft Croatia CEO Tatjana Skoko said that by way of the deal Hrvatski Telekom (HT) will obtain experts who are in short supply in Croatia and thus it will be able to enter huge and complex IT projects, news daily Poslovni Dnevnik reported on Monday.
"This makes HT a unique ICT provider in the region", she said.
Although Microsoft has announced the outsourcing of 4,000 programmers and IT experts, HT believes the number can be bigger, Poslovni said.
"We have digitised 30% of all business subjects in Croatia by now, as we have invested 7.5 billion kuna ($1.1 billion/1 billion euro) in new technology. We want to increase the tempo", the media quoted HT board member Sasa Kramar as saying.
Last year, Croatia's telecommunication and IT industry employed 36,151 experts. The sector needs a further 19,000 workers in order to maintain growth by 2025, Poslovni Dnevnik said, quoting information by the Croatian Employers Association.
