September 24 (SeeNews) - Holcim Croatia, a unit of building materials producer LafargeHolcim, said it will invest 9.6 million kuna ($1.5 million/1.3 million euro) in a project to develop low-carbon cement production.
Some 35% of the project costs, or 3.3 million kuna, will be a grant from Innovation Norway, the Norwegian government's financial instrument to support development and innovation, Holcim Hrvatska said in a statement on its website.
The project will be carried out at the factory in Koromacno from October 1 to July 31, 2023.
The aim of the project is to boost competitiveness, cut the CO2 emissions, to lower the electricity consumption and emissions of dirt.
The project envisages building a closed warehouse for mineral additives and a new transportation system for their dosage and the launch of production of two new brands of low-carbon cement.
