January 16 (SeeNews) - Hellas Sat said on Monday it has signed a multi-year Direct-to-Home service agreement with Orange Romania, a unit of France Telecom's Internet and mobile arm Orange.
The deal aims to complete the DTH service merger of Orange Romania and Orange Romania Communications TV, formerly Telekom Romania Communications, Hellas Sat, a subsidiary of Saudi-Arabian operator Arabsat, said in a press release.
The partnership will help Hellas Sat reinforce its position in Southeast Europe and will further enable Orange Romania to offer an integrated technical solution and a unified customer experience, aided by the extensive coverage of Hellas Sat.
Orange Romania completed the acquisition of a 54% stake in fixed-line operator Telekom Romania Communications in September 2021 and rebranded it to Orange Romania Communications in March 2022.
"This new agreement clearly demonstrates Hellas Sat long-term commitment to operators and broadcasters, to serve Romania - and South-Eastern Europe countries in general - with one of the most powerful satellite systems in the region, reaching more than 1,5 million antennas pointing at 39 degrees East," Hellas Sat CEO Christodoulos Protopapas said.
Cyprus-headquartered Hellas Sat is a satellite services provider that owns and operates three satellites delivering high-quality, cost-effective video, broadband and data services in Europe, Middle East and Southern Africa.
