June 28 (SeeNews) - German solar panels maker Hanwha Q Cells said Friday it has supplied the solar modules for a 500-kWp rooftop photovoltaic (PV) facility in Turkey, developed by solar installer Else Enerji.
The system was built on the roof of the Kazan steel construction and manufacturing facility of Turkish company Prokon AS. It is estimated to cover some 40% of the site’s electricity demand. The solar installation was hooked to the grid on June 25.
Else Enerji chose Hanwha Q Cells after ordering tests of products from six manufacturers by independent PV lab PI Photovoltaik-Institut Berlin. Q Cells’ results in the potential-induced degradation (PID) was one of the factors that helped the Turkish company make that choice.
Based in Turkey, Else Enerji develops, installs and provides operations and maintenance services to solar PV systems in Turkey, North Africa and Middle East. It was in charge of the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the 500-kWp project in Kazan, a district of Turkey’s Ankara province.
German Q-Cells SE filed for insolvency in the spring of 2012 and was acquired in the autumn of the same year by South Korean Hanwha Group.
