March 9 (SeeNews) - Greece's real economy expanded by an annual 5.2% in the fourth quarter of 2022, marking the largest increase among EU member states in Southeast Europe (SEE) and second-largest in the EU, the bloc's statistical office said.
Compared to the previous quarter, Greece also recorded the highest rise in gross domestic product (GDP) in the EU in the October-December period, at 1.4%, Eurostat said in a quarterly report on Wednesday, citing seasonally adjusted data.
Elsewhere in SEE, Slovenia registered the lowest annual GDP growth in the region in the fourth quarter of last year, at 1.3%, while Bulgaria posted the lowest quarterly increase, of 0.6%.
In the EU overall, GDP increased by 1.7% in annual terms and marked a decline of 0.1% compared to the previous quarter.
