BELGRADE (Serbia), June 6 (SeeNews) – German discount supermarket chain Lidl has expanded its network in Serbia by opening two more stores, taking the total number to 29, it said on Thursday.
The new stores are located in Obrenovac, a municipality of the city of Belgrade, and in Sremska Mitrovica, in the country's north, Lidl said in an e-mailed statement.
"With today's openings in Obrenovac and Sremska Mitrovica, we showed once again that we are holding the promise given when opening the first Lidl stores - that we will continue expanding in order to increase as much as possible the number of customers in Serbia," corporate communications director Lidl Serbia, Martina Petrovic, said.
In October, Lidl opened its first 16 stores in Serbia - five in Belgrade and one each in Bor, Zrenjanin, Kragujevac, Leskovac, Nis, Novi Sad, Smederevo, Sombor, Subotica, Uzice and Sabac.
Lidl, part of Germany's Schwarz-Gruppe, is a global discount supermarket chain, based in Neckarsulm, Germany. The company operates over 10,000 stores in Europe.
