December 9 (SeeNews) - Germany's development bank KfW and the European Union (EU) have agreed to provide 105 million euro ($110.8 million) in grants to Kosovo for the implementation of projects for the treatment of wastewater and solid waste management, Kosovo's finance ministry said.
KfW will provide 42 million euro, while the EU will provide around 20 million euro to Kosovo to complete the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in the Pristina region, Kosovo's finance ministry said in a press release on Thursday.
The municipalities of Pristina and Fushe Kosova will contribute towards the project with 9 million euro and 2 million euro, respectively, the statement read. The project is also backed by the French government.
KfW will also provide 20 million euro, whereas the EU will provide 23 million euro through IPA funds for the construction, expansion and rehabilitation of landfills and solid waste transfer stations in several municipalities. Kosovo's government will contribute 8 million euro and the municipality of Peja wil come up with some 3 million euro towards the project.
